The Video Game Scholarly Interest Group will be meeting on Friday, Feb. 22nd from 5-7 pm. For February, we're going to go the Tech Bunker in the UGL and check out the Oculus Rift. The group will meet at State Hall 326 at 5 pm and walk over. If you come later than 5 pm, you can meet us on the second floor of the UGL.

Join the Video Game Scholarly Interest Group in January when we’ll be playing and discussing Full Motion Video Games. What about these “interactive movies” is so compelling? What do they have to offer that other games don’t? We’ll definitely be playing some, but who knows what else we might play as well, so come ready to talk and ready to play! Our meeting will be Friday, January 25th from 5-7pm in State Hall 326. As always, all members of the Wayne State community are welcome to attend!

For our November meeting, we’ll be discussing and playing strategy games. How do strategy games differ from other genres of games? What are the differences in gameplay between cooperative strategy games and those you play on your own? We’ll be playing Civ 5 and Tooth and Tail as we discuss the topic. The meeting will be on Friday, November 30th from 5-7pm in State Hall 326. As always, all levels of experience are welcome, from newbies to experts.

We will be meeting on Friday, October 19th from 5 to 7 PM in State Hall 326 to discuss what makes a game a horror game. We will be playing Avalon Hill's board game "Betrayal at House on the Hill."

We will be meeting on Friday, September 21st from 5 to 7 PM in State Hall 326 to discuss game currency and currency in games.

We will be meeting on Friday, August 31st from 5 to 7 PM in State Hall 326 to discuss turning video games into other media -- namely machinima and fan vids.

We will be meeting on Friday, July 27th from 5 to 7 PM in State Hall 326 to discuss simulation games and play The Sims. Discussion will be led by Miranda Keyes.

We will be meeting on Friday, June 29th from 5 to 7 PM in State Hall 326 to discuss Let's Play videos and video game spectatorship.

We will be meeting on Friday, May 25th from 5 to 7 PM in State Hall 326 to discuss "disturbed, disoriented, and disrupted bodies" in games. We will be playing Octodad, QWOP, and Getting Over It. NOTE: This meeting was rescheduled from April due to a gas leak on campus.
