Check out the week's newest film releases and find out what our staff can't wait to see (or, in some cases, would choose to see if we absolutely had to). Click the posters for more info about each film.

I'm interested in Sicario: Day of the Soldado with some reservations. The first is the absence of Emily Blunt, who was amazing in the first Sicario film, and really helped to ground that movie. The second is another absence, that of director Denis Villeneuve. Don't get me wrong, James Brolin and Benicio del Toro were both brilliant in the first film, as well, but part of that was their working against Blunt. Still, different isn't always a bad thing, particularly with sequels, so it's worth a shot.

This week I'm going to recommend Leave No Trace. Given the current state of the world, I don't think I'd be able to sit through Sicario: Day of the Soldado, which is about smuggling terrorists across the Mexico-US border. It might be a great film, but just not something I'm in the mood for. Same goes for the post-apocalyptic The Domestics and the story-about-a-Native-American-told-from-the-POV-of-a-white-woman Woman Walks Ahead. I don't necessarily want to dismiss any of these films out of hand, they just aren't what my brain wants to consume this week. But I will say that Uncle Drew (aka the 103 minute long Pepsi commercial) looks like a dumpster fire on screen. When will directors realize that with the exception of Space Jam, movies starring basketball players are just not good? That isn't to say that Leave No Trace wins just by default - I'm genuinely interested in watching anything from the director of Winter's Bone (Debra Granik), which in addition to launching Jennifer Lawrence's career, is just a great film.

Also opening in theaters this week...
